SKY HIGH

Sky High
240 x 80 x 40 cm, 2017

glas, staal, rubber, fotoprints op transparant folie

editie 1

edition 1

Sky high is part of the series Building Buildings. It is about the way us humans create and demolish at the same pace. A lot of  architecture is made with the idea not to last forever. With new technologies growing so fast these buildings are often outdated within decades. Building Buildings is an ode to this architecture. By repeating its beauty Jacqueline shows that when we grow out of it, there's always a quality we can continue to build on.

With this artwork Jacqueline worked with transparency and multiple layers. There are no high-rise buildings at the location where the artwork was placed. She therefore showed the contrasting effect but above all that it merges with the environment. The artwork is part of RORO, an artist initiative in which three different artists are selected every year at three locations in Rotterdam Noord to show a work of art.
